		<description><![CDATA[I felt sad to see people who clearly care a lot about the schools in which they work, people who are clearly dedicated to that work, discuss their school goals almost totally in terms of how students do on standardized tests. 

In one case where engaging parents in helping children in school was mentioned it was in the context of how parents could help child improve the DIBELS score.  Yikes. The sound quality was not great. I hope I misunderstood. When parents write me, asking about DIBELS, I tell them to ignore it. Parents help their children by reading to them, by making books available, by taking child to library and surrounding children with books they enjoy.

Actually &quot;Joy&quot; was a word I did not hear in these very earnest presentations.]]></description>
